... Free VisioModeler!
In the last issue, I reported that VisioModeler would be available for a free download. Roughly two months have passed, with no such download, and most of you are probably thinking I am -- or at least was -- nuts. We'll, what I reported was true... just a little later than myself and my sources anticipated.
I'm glad to report that the download is now available, and you can get it one of two ways:
1) Go to http://download.microsoft.com, select "Visio 2000 Enterprise", select your operating system, and click "Find It!" Then, click on "VisioModeler (Unsupported Product Edition)". When prompted for a location to save the file, be sure the extension is there. If it is not, type in an extension of ".exe".
2) Alternately, go to: http://download.microsoft.com/download/visio2000enterprise/ORMtool/3.1/WIN98/EN-US/msvm31.exe
Upcoming Events
InConcept is a proud sponsor of the 13th annual DAMA International Symposium and 5th annual Metadata Conference. We'll be hosting a booth at this event, which is usually THE database-related event of the year.
In addition, I'll be presenting at the conference on Thursday, so if that isn't a reason to buy an admission, I don't know what is. (he he he)
If you'll be at the symposium, be sure to stop by the InConcept booth.
You can learn more about the symposium at http://www.wilshireconferences.com/Anaheim/index.htm.
Four... Count 'em, Four Rookies!
It is my great pleasure to introduce four (!!) JCM rookies with this issue.
The first two rookies are Ilia Bider and Dr. Maxim Khomyakov. They have provided us with an interesting article on object interaction.
Dr. Kiran J. Fernandes, Dr. Vinesh H. Raja, -- no longer JCM rookies -- have given us another article AND they brought along a rookie, Mark Morley, as an added bonus. Be sure to read their article on system level testing.
Finally, rookie Toufik Taibi gives us an article on NIAM.
Welcome, guys... and thanks!
I'm sure you'll agree that achieving the title of "JCM Rookie" would make your loved ones proud and your neighbors envious.
Do you want said loved ones to walk down the street with the pride that can only be associated with knowing a JCM Rookie? If so, just write up an article and send it our way.
Preface
It is with great pleasure that I announce the largest JCM issue we have ever published. Dr. Terry Halpin provides us with a meta-model of the Information Engineering approach. Patrick Hallock talks a bit about Natural Language Modeling. Scot Becker discusses object-oriented processes. Daniel Roth returns with more discussion on practical data administration. Dr. Kiran J. Fernandes, Dr. Vinesh H. Raja, and Mark Morley discuss system level testing. Ilia Bider and Dr. Maxim Khomyakov talk about Object Interaction. Toufik Taibi discusses NIAM. And Dr. John Sharp provides us with another analysis problem and last issue's solution. In short... lot's of great stuff that you will want to check out!
