About InConcept
InConcept is dedicated to excellence in data modeling. We place an emphasis on the conceptual model using Object-Role Modeling (ORM). This higher level design is more suitable for review with customers while the logical and physical models, completely derivable from the conceptual model, are more suited to the technical staff. Modeling a database at the conceptual level significantly reduces design errors -- reducing overall cost -- while using ORM enables the designer and the business user to communicate and capture business rules more readily and easily.
Our capable staff of ORM experts (certified by Dr. Terry Halpin, the founder of modern ORM, and recognized by Microsoft Corporation) comprise more than 50 years of practical experience using ORM to design data systems. However, we offer more than just conceptual modeling experience; our staff has evolved from roles in the "technical trenches" to their current positions. We know databases inside and out.
Consulting Services
InConcept uses ORM, Visual Studio .Net, and Visio 2002 to help you design database systems according to your custom database requirements. This includes conceptual designs, logical designs and data definition scripts ready for implementation. We can also work with your database administration staff to facilitate implementation details. We then provide multiple sessions with the "user and owner" communities within your company and provide various model reports. We can also integrate the new information into other tools/methodologies being used at your site -- our consultants have years of experience with many tools and methodologies.
InConcept has experience in developing all types of data systems in virtually all business domains. This includes Operational Data Stores (ODS) and development to support Data Warehousing (DSS) as well as traditional transactional (OLTP) systems. In addition, we can implement our designs on any hardware and software platform.
The cycle of "just do it" is no longer acceptable, and Entity-Relationship (ER) modeling is not a complete communication tool for both data and business rules. We will use your business information and our conceptual modeling skills to help your company reap the highest benefit from your IS systems. Your business information is useless if it isn't accurately reflected in your systems. Further, other data modeling techniques (such as ER modeling) don't accurately express your business information in terms your system can deal with. Vendor Selection and Gap Analysis
InConcept uses ORM to analyze your system needs and prepare a "fact base" of your requirements. You can then use this "fact base" to interview potential vendors and then thereby select the most compatible vendor product. This will also be the basis for determining if the vendor will modify their package to fit any other requirements. All remaining gaps could also be identified as custom work to be done during product integration.
